Apr 24, 2024 A Knock at the Door Changes Everything

Have you ever received something you didn’t know you needed, but now you can’t live without? When Adelle answered a knock at her door, she was not aware that it would be a life-changing moment.

The man at the door was Cristian, a QHM gospel worker, who introduced himself and said he was visiting in the community to offer Bible studies. Adelle is an active and influential woman in Mitú, Colombia. She also cares for her grandchildren while her son is serving in the military. She was happy to meet Cristian because she had heard about the Adventist Church when she lived in a different city. Adelle eagerly accepted the offer of Bible studies and started attending church each Sabbath with her grandchildren.

Adelle began to see positive changes in her life and in her whole family. Her daily Bible studies were bringing her such joy and hope and peace, and she wanted to share that with her family. She asked Cristian to help her learn how to have a daily family worship. So, Cristian agreed to come by the house every morning at 6 a.m. to lead in Bible study and worship and teach Adelle how to continue the routine.

Adelle’s son also noticed the difference in the family, and he started coming to church. Adelle was thrilled that her family was growing even closer now that they were actively including God at the center of their lives.

One day while Adelle and Cristian were studying the Bible, she told him she was ready to give her life to God in baptism. The following Sabbath after church, they went to the river and Adelle was baptized. Adelle said, “I want to place my whole life in God’s hands.”

Adelle and her family are closer, happier, and more fulfilled than they ever knew was possible. Before meeting Cristian, they didn’t realize that they needed Jesus in their lives. Now, starting each day with family worship has made all the difference.

“Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning, for in You do I trust; cause me to know the way in which I should walk, for I lift up my soul to You.” Psalm 143:8
