Apr 10, 2026 A Long Walk to Share God’s Love
High in the mountains of Bolivia, where the roads are steep, winding, and often difficult to travel, a 21-year-old gospel worker is faithfully sharing the love of Jesus, one step at a time.
Her name is Neonilda.
Each day begins early. Around 5:00 a.m., Neonilda wakes up and prepares for the day ahead. During the week, she lives in Aiquile, where she studies agriculture until 12:30 p.m. But her true calling continues long after school ends.
After classes, she returns home, prepares lunch with her roommate, and then begins the journey to Tipa Jara, her home community, about an hour away. It’s there that she gives Bible studies, visits families, and shares the gospel.
The journey is not easy.
For a short time, Neonilda was able to use her brother’s motorcycle to travel the steep mountain roads. But after he returned, she had to find another way. Now, she often takes a taxi—costing 20 bolivianos one way, which is expensive for her. Sometimes, to save money, she rides only to the main road for 8 bolivianos… and walks the rest.
Seven miles in. Seven miles out.
Up mountainous hills and rugged terrain.
“I only get tired when it’s really sunny,” she says. “Otherwise, I am used to it.”
Her strength comes from her purpose.
Neonilda has a deep desire to see her community transformed. “We are few here in the church,” she says, “and I want more people here.” Her passion is especially for the children. She wants them to know God from an early age, something she didn’t have growing up.
“I didn’t learn about God when I was little,” she shares. “I wanted to know Him then.”
Her own journey of faith began when she was seven years old, when a group of believers came to her community, going door to door, sharing the gospel. Her family responded, began attending church, and at 14 years old, Neonilda chose to be baptized.
Now, she is continuing that same mission.
Today, she is studying the Bible with four families and regularly visiting seven or eight more. Each visit, each conversation, each step along those mountain roads is an opportunity to show God’s love.
There are risks.
One time, while riding the motorcycle, she hit a rock and fell. Though her injuries were not severe, the experience left her shaken. The roads are dangerous, and every journey requires courage.
But still, she goes.
Because for Neonilda, this is more than a routine, it’s a calling.
“Thank you (Quiet Hour Ministries) for coming here and all the work that you’re doing,” she says. “It means a lot to know that there are people willing to come and teach our little community here in Tipa Jara about God.”
Her words are a reminder: the gospel is still moving forward, through faithful workers like Neonilda, who are willing to walk the long road so others can know Jesus.
