Apr 3, 2019 A Whisper of a Prayer
One evening in Iloilo, I was sharing the VBS program with a big group of enthusiastic children. I asked if any of them would like to say the prayer before we dismissed for the evening. A young lad named Jordan raised his hand. The children are always eager to volunteer, but this time Jessa, our VBS interpreter and I were mystified as a surprised silence fell over the rest of the students in the class.
While some of his classmates knew, we did not realize that Jordan was mute! He had been so moved by the VBS program, that he offered to come to the front of the class to show his love for the Lord. In soft whispers, he mouthed the love and joy he had in his friendship with Jesus. Everyone was very attentive. Jessa and I, and the entire class were deeply moved by his courageous prayer!
Sometimes, it is the smallest whispers, the quietest voices that provide the loudest and most moving testimony of God’s love. This time, it was Jordan, the boy who found his voice so he could talk to Jesus.
