Oct 25, 2018 At 14, he was sentenced to 48 years in prison!

This story comes from Dr. Dianne Fillman, who recently returned from preaching an evangelism series in Davao, Philippines. She shared this inspiring account of a man she met at one of the evangelism sites:

I’m not sure how John got involved, but he did. The body guard of a high official was shot, and John was there. This was many years ago in his youth. Then, convicted at the age of 14 and sent to prison for 48 years, John’s life was changed forever. While in prison, he met Jesus and was converted. His life was transformed and he began giving Bible studies and seeing other inmates come to a saving relationship with Christ.

He became a model prisoner and was pardoned and released after just eight years in prison. Today, he is the head elder of his church and spends much of his time studying the Bible with inmates at the prison where he was supposed spend most of his life.

Because of John’s witness, more than 100 men have been baptized or are preparing for baptism.

Dianne met John when they were working together on a Quiet Hour Ministries evangelism mission. As part of the local outreach team, John is a critical part of helping make the mission impact greater and more lasting.

It is such a blessing to see how the work of our local partners in the field is increasing the evangelism impact in the areas where they have most influence. It allows us to reach many more people than a mission team could on their own in the short time they are on the ground!
