Mar 23, 2022 Calling a Friend She’s Never Met

How can I teach my daughters about God’s love? thought Edilma. As a parent, Edilma knows it’s the responsibility of her and her husband to teach her daughters about God, but she struggled with this question since she only knew a little about the Bible. This and other questions were whirling through her head.

She didn’t even know what ‘Adventist’ means, but the Biblical messages that are presented by the Adventists on the radio each morning caught her attention. Edilma heard the contact numbers for the radio program every day, but she can’t call since she has no phone.

One morning an acquaintance who had a cell phone came to her house, so she asked if he had available minutes to allow him to make a call. Yes, but who are you going to call? He asked as he passed the phone. She took the phone and said, some friends. She said this because she heard the greeting at the beginning of the radio program every day, This program is sponsored by your friends, the Seventh-day Adventists.

That same afternoon Edilma and her family were visited by gospel workers, who studied the Bible with them, and this filled them with joy. The whole family has been happy to receive their new friends to their humble home at each visit, and have gotten to know each other and their family history.

Along with their two daughters, Diá and Zená, they all share a deep desire to study the Bible. We are so blessed! I wish our friends would visit us every day so our daughters can learn more about the love of God, shared Rafael.

Edilma is happy to have met the Seventh-day Adventists and she knows that they are her friends. She continues to listen to read the Bible and listen to the radio programs with her family every day. Once a week they receive a visit from the Pastor and his wife who lead them in a Bible study using a study guide on The Faith of Jesus.

No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you. You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. John 15:15-16

Will you pray God will continue to help connect us with those who are seeking light and truth? Pray for our gospel workers around the world as they help others get to know their Friend Jesus.
