Nov 24, 2021 Carson’s Conscience

What? That’s not true! Carson* screamed silently to himself so he wouldn’t make a scene in the middle of the Sunday worship service. It was difficult to stay seated in the pew at his protestant church, but he focused on making some notes to study later.

Carson is a colporteur in El Dorado, Uruguay, and an avid reader of the Bible for his personal study. So when heard his pastor saying things contrary to Scripture, he felt more and more uncomfortable. Finally, Carson’s conscience told him not to go back to that church and put the matter to the Lord in prayer.

Carson prayed, God, I believe the Bible is your message. I want to follow your true teachings. I don’t think I should go back to my church, and I don’t know what to do next. Please show me your will for my life.

After earnestly praying, Carson heard a knock at his door. He opened the door and saw a smiling face on the other side. Hi, I’m visiting homes in your neighborhood to find people who are interesting in learning Bible truths. The lessons are free, and I will study with you right here at your home.

It was a gospel worker from the local Adventist church, sponsored by QHM Cares. Carson eagerly accepted the offer, and they began studying together each week.

Carson was thrilled to discover that the Adventist church follows the teachings in the Bible, and he joined the church through profession of faith. He immediately started participating in the services and the outreach activities. But, Carson’s wife and son were not ready to leave Carson’s former church.

Once again, Carson listened to the Holy Spirit speaking through his conscience. He felt impressed to start acting as a disciple of Christ in his own family. Using patience rather than persuasion, he simply invites his family to come to church with him.

At a recent week of evangelism at the church, Carson’s wife and son joined him in going through a series of Bible studies with the gospel worker. Now they attend church with Carson every Sabbath instead of going to church on Sunday.

The leaders at the Adventist church say that Carson was born to be a discipling missionary. He loves God, devotedly studies scripture, and is passionate about leading people to the feet of Christ. His wife and son are following his lead, and that is just the start.

Let’s keep Carson and his family in prayer as they continue growing in their faith. And, pray for the gospel workers in El Dorado, Uruguay, who are reaching even more people. So far this year, more than 100 people are going through Bible studies, and 47 people have given their lives to Christ through baptism.

We praise God for the faithful supporters who provide the funding to keep gospel workers going door to door in many places worldwide. There are thousands of personal stories of transformation, just like Carson’s. We look forward to Christ’s soon return when we will meet Him face to face and hear how the greatest story reached each person.

“So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:11
