Sep 21, 2022 Decisions for Christ Double and Triple in Colombia
When living in the Amazon, you quickly learn that your plans are not always guaranteed, especially regarding the weather, which gives you a first-row seat to see how amazing God is and how He works everything out for His Glory.
Sabbath after church, the missionaries, Bible Workers, and the church members would all go down to the Vaups River that runs along the eastern side of the town. Some would walk, some would pile into a motocarro, or they’d climb into a pick-up truck; somehow, everyone, young and old, made it down to the river to either give their life over to Jesus or watch their friends and family do the same.
On this particular Sabbath, there were four planned baptisms. But during the song service along the river bank and the short word from Pastor Araldo, four decisions turned into seven, and then 13. Praise God that our decisions can be a positive influence to inspire others!
About halfway through the baptisms, the clouds and the wind started to roll in. Leaves and twigs started the blow into the water, but the rain held back as if it was waiting for something.
Just as Pastor Debar had baptized the last person and was praying over all the candidates, the first few raindrops started to fall. As soon as he said Amen, the sky opened up and began to pour. It was like heaven bursting open with joy over this wonderful occasion!
The Amazon taught us that things might not seem like they’re going according to what we planned, but they always work out according to His plan. Please pray for these new believers in ColombiaÑthat God would continue to use their influence to help others trust totally in Him!
We were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Romans 6:4
