Jul 30, 2019 Emmanuel the Strong

He came over and introduced himself to the Quiet Hour Mission team which had just arrived in Papua New Guinea. The team was surveying the beautiful stages the community was building for the Evangelistic Meetings.

Emmanuel the strong was excited to work with the Quiet Hour again after all these years!

He introduced himself as Emmanuel and shook hands with the team. He was a gospel worker. “I come from the mountains over there,” he said pointing in towards the distance. “It’s a half day walk for most people, for elderly people. It’s tough terrain and mountainousÑbut I am strong and nimble! I can make the journey in an hour!”

Emmanuel had come that Friday to help set up for the meetings and had been working to make sure everything was ready. The stage was set with colorful dressing, a podium and incredible flowers and greenery. Looking out from it was the most stunning mountain view you could imagine.

“I have to go back home tonight,” Emmanuel explained. “I need to attend my church at home on Sabbath. I will come back and I know I’ll see you again.”

Emmanuel had been studying with people in his community, and teaching them about his friend Jesus. He’d been a gospel worker for a very long time. He planned to bring his flock back with him to attend the meetings the next Monday.

“I want to tell you something,” he said. “Quiet Hour was here many years agoÑmore than fifteen. I was a small boy then, but I saw the work that was done here. I remembered it! It inspired me! I had an incredible experience with God during that time. But then I never heard of Quiet Hour again after thatÑuntil now! And here you are!”

The team was surprised that Emmanuel could remember the ministry all these years later, as an adult and contribute as part of the community team!

“I remember it all,” he said. “I had an out-of-body experience where I seemed to see everything happening during that time as if I were looking from the out side. I committed every detail to memory.”

The next Monday, Emmanuel returned, with ten precious people who had been preparing for baptism who now got to experience the Quiet Hour meetings for themselves.

Em “This worked changes lives. I’m so glad to be here today, working with the QHM team myself all these years later. I know that QHM is creating real experiences with God for many people.” Emmanuel said. “People like me.”
