“Wait, I recognize that voice! Where have I heard it before?” Mayu thought as she turned toward the familiar sound. Scanning the bustling market, she honed in on the voice—then it hit her, it was from the radio program “Good Morning with Jesus.”

As realization dawned, Mayu spotted Marcela, a QHM gospel worker, and her husband, Pastor Araldo. As she approached the couple, Mayu felt like her silent prayers had been answered!

After talking a bit, Mayu invited the couple to visit her and her family the following week. Mayu lives in a rural community of Ceima San Pablo, about 5 miles from the city of Mitú, in Colombia.

The region of Mitú is remote and can only be reached by small aircraft or boat. Outside of the town, the roads to most of the villages are packed dirt, and there is no electricity or running water. The people are a mix of Colombian and indigenous cultures, living simply amidst the natural beauty of dense rainforests. From Mitú, Pr. Araldo and his wife would drive their motocarro, funded by QHM donor support. From above, the whole area looks just like rainforest, but even here the hope of Christ is heard.

Mayu had been listening to the “Good Morning with Jesus” radio program for a while, and she had been so inspired by the messages. She had started praying to Jesus and asking Him for wisdom in raising her children. Through these radio messages of hope, Mayu experienced the love of God filling the longings of her heart as nothing else could.

During the visit with Pr. Araldo and Marcela, Mayu felt so blessed. Mayu and her family was so happy to get to know the couple, and they were eager to study the Word of God. Since this first meeting, every subsequent Tuesday has seen the gospel worker couple return to study the Bible with Mayu and her family.

The family remains loyal listeners of the Seventh-day Adventist Church radio programs, enthusiastically sharing the enriching episodes with friends. Above all, Mayu cherishes recounting the miraculous tale of meeting Marcela, a friend she only previously knew by voice!

Jesus said, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of My hand.” John 10:27-28
