Nov 12, 2025 Healing Beyond Borders

We support many different types of projects at QHM, the fundamental similarity across the board is that the project needs to bring people closer to Jesus.

One of the projects we are excited about is the work being done in a country we cannot disclose and its value in holistic care for refugees.

Our partner organization cares for the physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing of their clients. Led by a dedicated doctor and supported by a volunteer psychologist, this project helps refugees and displaced people with chronic diseases and disabilities access medical treatment while also fostering long-term relationships through meaningful activities and Bible studies.

“The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the Lord your God.” Leviticus 19:3

Here is a story sent to us from one of our partners-

“One of the most inspiring journeys I’ve witnessed is that of Zara*, a Muslim woman and refugee.

Zara’s open mindset and curiosity always made our conversation rich and thoughtful. After a year, she traveled to Spain, where we introduced her to members of the Adventist Church. Upon her return, she joined our team as a translator and later as an English teacher.

While spiritual conversations were always present in our friendship, our desire to help Zara draw closer to Jesus grew stronger over time. We prayed earnestly for her, asking God to reveal Himself in dreams and visions, while remaining careful not to force anything.

Then one Saturday, as I prepared to go to church, I felt compelled to reach out. Moments later, I received a message from Zara:

“Happy Saturday! Remember me in your prayers today. I want to thank you for what you are doing with me, and God bless you. ‘The LORD makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him…’ Philippians 1:6 …being confident that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Have a great day!”

Her message confirmed that God was guiding me to take the next step. I replied, asking if she would like to study Bible stories together. Her answer was simple and heartfelt:

“This is how we say that our hearts are on top of each other! I would like that. Tomorrow, if you have time. I love it.”

The next day, she sent a verse that immediately became our study topic:

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” — John 3:16

From that moment, our studies unfolded naturally. Over two and a half hours, we explored foundational topics such as the Trinity, the titles Jesus accepted, the great controversy, and the entry of sin into the world. Each session deepened our friendship and strengthened Zara’s understanding and curiosity about faith.

This journey is ongoing, and we continue to pray for guidance and wisdom as we walk alongside Zara. Just as our project supports refugees with chronic illnesses or disabilities in accessing the care they need, it also nurtures their spiritual and emotional wellbeing, helping them feel seen, cared for, and loved in every dimension of their lives.

Pray for us as we continue this journey of healing, friendship, and faith—one life at a time.”

Zara’s journey is a beautiful reminder that God works through our care and presence, guiding hearts toward Him in His perfect timing, not every conversion is immediate, but it requires a diligent heart.

We are so grateful to be partnering with individuals who are willing to wait years to bring someone to Christ. As we continue this mission, we remain trusting that every act of compassion and every Bibele study given is part of God’s greater plan to heal, restore, and bring hope.
