Dec 14, 2022 Hold on Tight!
Hold on tight, and prepare to get muddy! This isn’t a phrase heard frequently on the way to an evangelism meeting. Six women took a long, muddy trip riding on the back of motorcycles to the remote region of Seko, Padang Balua in a mountainous area of Indonesia.
This was not like a trail ride that we see off-road motorcyclists do for fun. This was six grueling hours on broken, muddy roads. There were frequent spots where they had to stop and dig out a path for the small trailer of supplies. Despite wearing knee-high mud boots, the women and their drivers were covered in mud and dirty water by the time they arrived at their location.
The journey was well worth the efforts, and the travelers arrived in high spirits. The trip was organized by the women’s ministries team in North Luwu. They created a six-day program with six women providing community health services and children’s programs during the day, and preaching at evangelism meetings in the evenings.
This project is just one of several events organized with our international partners at the Luwu Tana Toraja Mission. Quiet Hour Ministries’ supporters provided funding for four motorcycles, as well as equipment and meeting costs.
It is easy for many of us in America to forget that there are parts of the world so remote that small groups of people live in virtual isolation. There may be occasional outside interactions for supplies or trade, but creating friendships with distant communities takes a great deal of time and effort. Thanks to the dedicated women in North Luwu, the people in Seko have new friends bringing services and the good news of Jesus.
The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Deuteronomy 31:8
