Apr 13, 2022 Hostility, Crime, and Illness Can’t Stop the Gospel

What do you do when you’re trying to share Jesus, but you keep having challenges? How do you keep going through illness and loss?

The gospel workers sharing in C—rdoba, Argentina have found Jesus’ promise to be true: My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. 1 Corinthians 12:9.

Here’s what our QHM gospel workers shared:

At the start of the campaign, we began activities to try and reach the community. We hosted outdoor health fairs, a children’s festival, a soccer school, guitar classes and invited youth to join the Pathfinder club; we also offered free Bibles and Bible studies.

We took to the streets and went home-to-home taking spiritual interest surveys. We also visited church members, their families and friends and invited them to study the word of God. All this outreach provided 1960 contacts and resulted in 1125 Bible study participants.

Besides closed churches and government restrictions on in-person meetings, we faced several challenges during this time. One of the gospel workers became ill and infected the whole team; the pastors also came down with the virus. Many people also feared speaking with us, since they knew we were traveling house-to-house and had high exposure risk.

In the Argüello area, we faced another challenge. Our group was assaulted five different times! Cell phones and other belongings were stolen, and this generated some fear in the group. With God’s help we persevered and continued the work. We also experienced prejudice and rejection from some of the evangelical pastors and their denominations.

It was not easy to work in the context of pandemic, however, the Lord blessed us, and we can see His powerful hand. We are happy and encouraged watching the future harvest.

Praise God for blessing the efforts to share the gospel in Argentina! Will you continue to pray for gospel workers around the world as they share the gospel? Please pray for those studying the Bible, that they will give their hearts to Jesus. Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them. Psalm 126:6
