Apr 1, 2020 How Melody earned a munequito: by giving away the best gift of all.

Melody is five years old. Beautiful and affectionate, this incredible little girl attended our team’s Friendship Hour program at the Duran church in Pil—n, Cuba.

The first night the children’s program leader, Danut, learned that Melody’s grandmother brings her to church regularly, but her mother, Miriam, doesn’t attend.

Melody immediately took a fancy to Danut. The little girl wanted to help lead the songs and put the felts on the board during the Bible story. She was fully engaged in the program and grinned from ear to ear.

One night, several children received stuffed animals for bringing visitors to the program. Melody was so disappointed that she did not get one. But the team came up with an idea.

“Bring your mom tomorrow night to the meetings,” they told her. “And you will get a ‘munequito’ too!”

The next night, Melody danced in, pulling a beautiful, smiling woman along behind her to meet her teacher. Danut was overjoyed that this precious little girl had brought her mother! And the whole children’s ministries team was so delighted to find out that Miriam decided to attend the adult program every night.

Now Melody and her whole family are continuing to grow in the Lord. And someday, Melody will have a beautiful star in her crown to remind her of how she gave her mother the gift of meeting her new friend and teacher, Danut, but most importantly, Jesus!
