Jan 25, 2023 I can finally read my Bible again!

Going on a mission trip forces you to never again take something like reading glasses for granted, shared Maddy, who was recently part of a Quiet Hour Ministries mission to Malawi, Africa.

In many of the communities where Quiet Hour Ministries works, medical care is not readily available. Medical clinics are few and far between, and when they are available, treatment and medicine can be expensive. Eyeglasses are simply a luxury many cannot afford.

So, when news got out about free medical clinics to be hosted in small rural villages outside of Blantyre, Malawi, you can imagine the excitement.

Help and hope through your support
As part of each mission trip, QHM always tries to hold an optical clinic to test people for reading glasses, said Randy Bates.

The team leader brings testing machines and trains our workers to determine the correct strength for reading glasses. QHM donors provide the funding for reading glasses we purchase at a discount. All glasses are distributed free of charge. We are so grateful, shared Randy.

At the clinics, Quiet Hour team members work alongside the local church members to help support their church in building relationships in their community. During the appointments, we have the opportunity to pray with the people and invite them to the evening evangelism meetings, said one team member.

Blessings abound through your giving
96-year-old Agnes was one of those blessed through the medical outreach the team hosted near Blantyre.

I can finally read my Bible again! said Agnes, as a smile spread across her face. Thank you for making stories like Agnes’s possible. Your generosity is helping to meet the physical and spiritual needs of hurting people all around the world.

How YOU help point the hurting to Jesus…

When Quiet Hour Ministries works with an international church, one of the best ways to help the church make friends in their community is to hold free clinics near the places where evangelism meetings will be held.

These clinics serve several purposes:

1) Meeting the physical needs of the people.

2) Building relationships and helping the neighbors see that the local Adventist Church cares about and loves their community.

3) Providing an opportunity to invite people to evening meetings.

Quiet Hour Ministries’ medical, dental and optical services are more than just using the church facility to hold standalone clinics. The clinics are in partnership with churches.

Local church members help in many ways: welcoming people, managing lines and crowds, translating, assisting our clinicians and sometimes they are the clinicians. This service connects the church with the community and builds relationships.

Medical clinics are only possible thanks to our faithful volunteers and generous donors. Thank you for all you do to help the hurting, vulnerable and marginalized in communities around the world.
