Apr 21, 2021 Innovative Evangelism in South America

How do you cope when you’re overwhelmed? When you’re feeling anxious or afraid? People around the world are looking for hope, now more than ever. Prayers for health, prayers for work, for finances, education, safety for families, courage, the list goes on and on. Sometimes these prayers seem to go unanswered. But are they?

We know from the Bible, God hears, and He is answering. He says, Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me, Psalm 50:15. Sometimes God steps in and works a miracle or gives us the needed strength or resourcesÑbut more often, God uses people. Just as He calls us to share the gospel, He sends us on His errands of hope. And praise GodÑthe believers in South America are becoming that hope for others! They are pointing their friends to the stable Rock amidst unstable timesÑJesus Christ.

When my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the Rock that is higher than I. Psalm 61:2

Churches in South America have become ministry hubs for members to mobilize and reach out. At one church, they prepare care packages of food with faith-based pamphlets to give hope, while some other churches have been able to distribute other supplies directly to their community. The response has been overwhelming! From these small gifts of food, prayers and encouragement, many community members want to know more about God and His Word, especially in current times. With many involved in Bible studies, church members are praying and preparing for a great harvest!

Thanks to our faithful donors, QHM CaresÑreaching across borders is supporting multiple projects happening now in South America. In partnership with local churches and other ministries, QHM Cares is supporting gospel workers, training, a variety of evangelism meetings as well as providing materials to share and bring hope. Meetings will be evangelistic but will also have specific focuses to meet community needs like improving holistic healthÑphysical, mental, social and spiritual. Here’s an overview of how God is working across South America!

Argentina: Gospel Workers & Evangelism Meetings

Our Argentina partners have had a tremendous response to their outreach efforts and are gearing up for two large evangelism initiatives.

In Buenos Aires, QHM Cares is supporting gospel workers from April through September, and holding training at four sites in the La Plata region. The initial meetings will be train volunteer missionaries to work in four centers of influence giving courses, Bible studies, and finally shepherding personal decisions for Christ.

In Cordoba, QHM Cares is supporting gospel workers from June to December as they are preparing for meetings at three sites. These efforts are a collaboration with the faculty of theology at Adventist University of the Plata and the Argentine Union. They will be providing Bible studies, holding small study groups and other classes to build relationships and increase interest in biblical themes.

Bolivia: Even a Bible Study App!

QHM Cares is supporting gospel workers in Chochambaba, Oruro, Potosi and Chuquisaca in Central Bolivia. Funding is also going towards special ministry kits, Bible studies and app development that corresponds to the studies. In Santa Cruz, gospel workers are also receiving training and working at six meeting sites! Pray that God would bless these studies and meetings!

Chile: Centers of Influence & Multimedia Equipment

Gospel workers and their ongoing church planting projects are making an impact through centers of influence, small groups, Bible studies as well as community presentations. QHM is also supporting these efforts though sharing materials and providing multimedia equipment for the presentations.

In Colombia: Gospel Workers

Praise God! The fruits of a missionary couple’s efforts are beginning to ripen! QHM Cares donors are supporting Pastor Araldo Usuga and his wife Marcela who have been ministering in Mitu, ColombiaÑa city of over 21,000 people only accessible by plane or boat! Stay tuned for an upcoming article about how God has blessed their endeavors in Mitu!

In Uruguay: Interactive Bible Studies over the Radio

This is a unique evangelistic project incorporating radio announcements, radio programs for the studies, home visitations and Bibles for those studying. These efforts in the El Dorado suburbs will be followed up with a larger evangelistic effort in collaboration with the local churches. Praise God! His love is unstoppable!

It’s so encouraging that the believers in South America will not let challenges stop them from sharing God’s love and hope. Please pray for all our international partners and these evangelism projects. Pray that many hearts would be turned to Jesus and His perfect love.
