“Tell me more about the training you got at the Vida Sana Redención center,” said Wilson to his cousin, John.

Wilson and John are cousins that are as close as brothers. They are both in their 20s and talk together about everything. Wilson recently saw his cousin John go through a transformation since he had been learning about Jesus. John’s face beamed with joy every time he talked about his Bible studies with the QHM gospel workers at Vida Sana Redención (Health Living Redemption Center). John was happier, and kinder. But because Wilson was a boarding student in Piracemo, the only time he and his cousin got to visit was during summer breaks and long holiday weekends.

“Well, we could pray and ask God to help make an exception for you to leave the school on weekends?” suggested John. Wilson laughed out loud at the suggestion! His dean would probably think he was making up an excuse to go out and party. But Wilson finally agreed to praying with John.

A short time after their prayer, John visited Wilson at his boarding school with an unexpected guest—Pastor Araldo, our QHM gospel worker! Wilson did not expect the answer to their prayer to come so quickly! After talking with the school dean and some coordination, Wilson, along with any student who wanted to join him, was cleared with a special permit to leave campus and attend church activities on Sabbaths. The pastor also got permission to visit the campus and give Bible studies to students who were interested in learning more.

Word buzzed quickly around campus about this special exception, and soon Wilson had many friends joining him to attend the church services. Their trips together to the Vida Sana Redención center for church service and Bible studies seemed to bond the friends closer. They were growing in their friendships, but also growing together spiritually.

The group had studied the Bible together for several months. And one Sabbath afternoon, Pr. Araldo asked if anyone in their group wanted to follow Jesus in baptism. Wilson immediately raised his hand—and to his surprise Luis, one of his close friends, did too! Praise God!

What an amazing ripple-effect these cousins John and Wilson had! Their prayer was a catalyst sparking the interest of many young people. Please pray for these young people, Wilson’s boarding school, and the Mitú community. Pray for God’s blessing and protection of Wilson as he’s the first indigenous resident of Piracemo to be baptized. And pray that Luis can show the love of Jesus to his parents and his home community of Puerto Pupuña. May the Holy Spirit continue to inspire others to know Him more.

“The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.” Revelation 22:17
