Dec 23, 2020 Looking back, looking forward with team members David and Judith

It’s always fun to hear from team members! Just because they’re not traveling this year doesn’t mean they’re not still working for the kingdom. Here’s what a couple of them have to say about missions this year and how they feel going into next year.

David, a frequent team member, loves sharing Jesus in any way he can.
Judith, is a committed team member who’s dedicated to supporting in any way she can.

What has been your greatest blessing from 2020?

David: My biggest blessing or lesson has been reminding myself that I can choose to be happy or choose to be right. 2020 has been a polarizing year. People have so many opinions, with COVID, with politics. For me, I trust God, but I’m not putting myself in dangerous situations. We still need to allow others to voice their opinions.

Judith: My greatest blessing of 2020 was my QHM Cuba trip. God saw my desire to serve. When I realized that this was probably the last trip of the year, that doors were literally closing as we rushed back, I was just amazed. God knew! He planned this trip for me!

How do we finish the work?

Judith: Each one of us, individually, has a work that only we can do. If each one of us is faithful in the work assigned to us, the work will be completed. Like Nehemiah rebuilding the wall around JerusalemÑif we all build the wall behind our own house, the whole wall will be finished.  I also think the church is doing a lot digitally, but this year has also shined a bright light on our hypocrisy on social issues. We must ask God to wake us up and face the issues.

How do you think missions will continue to move forward?

Judith: Technology. However, I don’t think online ministry will ever replace hands-on ministry. In Cuba, we had more than 500 people come for glasses. Mission, I believe, still demands the one-on-one touch.

What are your thoughts about missions in 2021?

Judith: The bottom line is safety. But my definition of safety may be different from others’. I will continue to go, by God’s graceÑI’ve signed up for two 2021 QHM trips already! And I just want to share an encouragement. I was reading, My Life Today, and I was so emotionally moved. I journaled,  Jesus is coming. Coming with clouds and glory. He has not forgotten us, or His promise. Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah!

David: God is calling us each individually. Like Isaiah, my answer is, Here I am Lord, send me. Some friends have said, Wow, I wish I could do that. I tell them, You don’t need to wish! It’s easy! Just go! Stay the course. Jesus is coming soon! If we need to pick a side, pick Jesus’ side!

There are few things more beautiful in the life of the church than witnessing every generation come together united in the Great Commission.    That’s exactly what I witnessed on Quiet Hour Ministries’ most recent mission trip to Peru.   Twenty-one of us embarked on a mission trip to…
