Jan 20, 2021 Mission in our own community

The QHM headquarters staff had the privilege of participating in some local outreach projects at Christmas. We partnered with Fusion Ministries, a homeless outreach ministry that serves the San Bernardino, CA community. Together, we provided 150 care bags that contained blankets, gloves, socks and other wintertime essentials to gift to those in need.

Shelina, QHM’s evangelism recruiter, has been volunteering with Fusion Ministries for several years, and she shares how she started working with this incredible team!

My friend, Bo Kim, started Fusion Ministries, to minister to the homeless community in San Bernardino. God has definitely been leading and the ministry is growing rapidly. I was inspired to get involved when Bo shared how the Holy Spirit has been moving on hearts, and some of the miracles God has done. I was convicted God was working in a mighty way, through Bo, to reach the forgotten.

When the pandemic hit, many of the shelters shut down. Everything shut down. People have had to focus on navigating so much this year and the homeless have been even more overlooked. By everyone but Bo. He started receiving desperate calls from many of Fusion’s homeless friends. They needed food. They were hungry. But in Bo’s words, They are my family in Christ. What do you do if your family calls you needing food?

So, Bo started posting on social media asking for donations of food and supplies. Every day, Bo would go out with the goal of getting one meal to every homeless person he met. It was hard work and even harder amidst a pandemic.

I saw Bo step out in faith, and I am in awe of how God provides food and donations. The most inspiring thing is the clear picture of who Jesus is, that Bo reflects. He goes out every morning, feeding and building relationships. In the afternoons, he gives several Bible studies. Even after just a few weeks, people are eager to be baptized. The churches were all closed so we held the services in the backyards of generous folks. It was mostly cold pools near sunset. It was such a beautiful experience. I could just imagine the angels around our small company.

God has worked in such mighty ways for this ministry, and it’s a blessing to be a small part of it. Fusion has helped me see Jesus in a different light. I have a better picture of Jesus here on earth; can you image what it was like? Imagine Jesus tired, hungry, or cold. He sleeps on the ground and has to travel all the time because people are trying to murder Him. Jesus suffered, not just because He was homeless and persecuted, but He suffered for you and me. If Jesus was here now, where do you think He would be? He would be with the homeless, the forgotten, building relationships where it is most needed. Jesus called us to follow His example and reach the unreachedÑand that person could be right down the street.

It was an incredible blessing for the QHM team to reach out in our own community. There are always opportunities around you to continue sharing your faith, are you looking for them?

And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’ Matthew 25:40.
