February 14 - 25, 2024

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic

Overview

Join our 2024 mission team to the Dominican Republic! The Southeastern DR Conference has asked QHM to partner with them in their evangelistic efforts to grow the Adventist presence in Cuidad Juan Bosch. The current members have been organized into small groups to carry out community service projects in their neighborhoods and expand the reach of the church. Our team will hold an evangelistic series, including children’s programs, and provide basic health screenings in the communities. Your participation on this trip will make an impact for God's kingdom in the Dominican Republic as well as your own life!

Additional Information

Trip Leader

David Wren

David has enjoyed a successful career in healthcare administration for more than 30 years. Now God is calling him to pursue his passion for making Jesus real to others all around the world through mission work and evangelism.

Trip Member Roles

Speaker

Each speaker will:

  • present the My Friend Jesus messages at their assigned meeting site on the trip.
  • show one segment of the Jesus Film at the beginning of each night as an introduction to Jesus.
  • Be responsible for bringing the presentation kit provided by QHM.

Children’s Program Leader and Helpers

The Friendship Hour leader is in charge of coordinating and leading the children's program with the help of supporting team members. QHM provides a suitcase with a Bible story felt set, Friendship Hour handbook, and a craft package for each of the 10 meetings.

The children's ministry assistant provides support and help to the leader.

  • Song service, games, and additional activities are at the leader’s discretion. The evangelistic meetings may run longer than the children's program, so prepare to keep the kids actively engaged in learning about Jesus and have age-appropriate games or activities in mind. Uncle Arthur-type stories are sure to please young inquisitive minds.

Clinic Team Members

The clinic team members help as assigned at the health clinic and present health talks before each evening meeting. At times, they are also asked to bring a piece of luggage from QHM containing: glucose meters, stethoscopes, eye testers, eye charts, and reading glasses.

Construction Project Team Members

The construction team members put in physical labor to help complete building projects. Talk with our staff about bringing construction basics: hammer, screwdriver, pliers, wrench, tape measure, work gloves, work shoes, or additional supplies. Areas may be rugged, so closed-toe athletic shoes will work best to protect against rocks and uneven footing.

Team Outing

Take time as a group to relax, recharge, and experience the local culture.

Check back here two months prior to the trip for more information about the team outing.

Food & Lodging

Your trip donation includes vegetarian meals and double-occupancy lodging.

Check back here two months prior to the trip for more information and pictures of the lodging accommodations and samples of food.

We advise checking with your personal doctor for recommendations on vaccinations before traveling to the Dominican republic. You can see the CDC recommendations here.

You are not required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 to join a Quiet Hour Mission trip, however, it is still recommended. Because QHM places a high priority on protecting the health of our international partner communities, as well as the health of our team members, we are requiring team members to perform a COVID-19 test between 24 and 48 hours prior to your departure. At-home rapid test kits will be provided with instructions for how to alert QHM staff of your results.

Click here to see our COVID-19 FAQ page for more information on our current policy.

Please see this link here to get up to date information as it specifically relates to the Dominican Republic's COVID regulations.
