To what lengths would you go to share God’s love? Believers in Uruguay are using every possible means to reach their community for Christ.

We started our outreach with door-to-door surveys, but many people were afraid to even open their doors, shared gospel workers Jonny Amaral and Yusniel García. We had to pray and rethink our outreach efforts, especially with the upcoming radio program.

While some community members responded and even followed up with Bible studies on the Faith of Jesus, many people in the El Dorado community were still unreached. Our international partners wanted to promote the upcoming radio program Focus on the Bible, in a way that would be safe yet still get the word out. District Pastor, Sebastián Castillo coordinated church members to help pass out flyers and invite their neighbors to join in the radio program. But Jonny and Yusniel wanted to ensure everyone had an invitation to this program. They decided to ride around the neighborhoods on their motorcyclesÑwith speakers announcing the upcoming program!

Their speakers blared through the empty streets of El Dorado neighborhood: Are you searching for hope? Study the Bible with us for God’s answers! Join us on Radio Nuevo Tiempo, 101.3 Saturday afternoons at 4pm! They prayed for God to bless their weekly efforts, and they were not disappointed with the response over the following weeks.

They gave out more flyers that also had a QR code offering the radio program’s prizes. As the radio audience grew, more people were excited to interact with Jonny, Yusniel and the church members. They were finally finding the hope and peace they’d been looking for in God’s Word! In the first few weeks, 12 people expressed interest and the gospel workers visited them. They gave them Bible study guides along with their prizes.

Our church is near the weekly farmer’s market on Wednesdays, so we set up the Radio’s inflatable tent in front of the church, shared Jonny. We play Christian music and have a table with flyers and books to share. People going to the market stop by and learn about the radio program. They’re also invited to the Friday evening and Sabbath worship services on Facebook and YouTube.

Praise God our radio ministry grew, and many doors were opened, shared Yusniel. However, the limitations of the pandemic don’t allow us to have Bible studies in person at home. So again, we mobilized our church members and became ‘missionary mailmen!’ New lessons would be dropped off and the completed lessons would be picked up and reviewed. This gave an opportunity for friendships to grow beyond the radio program.

Praise God! We currently have over 70 people who are studying the Bible, shared Jonny and Yusniel. The Holy Spirit is truly touching lives, through the online worship services, as well as in-person services.

Here’s a glimpse of the lives that are being touched by in the El Dorado neighborhoods in Uruguay:

  • Cecilia, a former Seventh-day Adventist, has decided to be re-baptized and is studying the Bible to prepare.
  • Elizabeth, who was doing video call Bible studies, was baptized May 8. Her daughter Stefanie is now joining her as they continue Bible studies together.
  • Cinthia, who has been so impressed by the Biblical truths, decided to dedicate her baby to the Lord. Yusniel performed the dedication, and is continuing Bible studies with Cinthia.
  • The youth meetings on Sunday afternoons have grown, and many young people are ready to transition and join in the Sabbath worship services.
  • The church has also started a community fund to provide food donations to over 90 people in the community as they distribute flyers for Radio Nuevo Tiempo.

Praise God for how He is blessing the creative ministry methods in El Dorado, Uruguay! Will you pray for gospel workers around the world as they share Jesus?

The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free… Luke 4:18
