Aug 17, 2022 Motorcycles Move the Gospel in Zambia

My Bible studies have doubled since I was given a Quiet Hour Ministries motorcycle! Pastors from Zambia recently sent in their reports and shared how their motorcycles are helping make a huge impact on spreading the gospel. Dr. Emmanuel Mwale shares the following impact your gift of motorcycles has made the areas of Chikowa, Chisonso, Chitungulu, Kazembe and Mwanya.

IN CHIKOWA
Many people in the Chikowa area are hearing the Adventist message for the first timeÑthank God for your support in Zambia! Because this region is very far from his home, the gospel worker was only able to do one Bible study per week. But with his new motorcycle, his Bible studies have doubled! As a result, 34 precious souls were baptized, and even the village headman has welcomed the Adventist church. One headman gave a big piece of land for us to build a church and a school when funds become available.

IN CHISONSO
Similarly, in Chisonso, the gospel worker met with the village leader and shared his outreach plan. The leader also responded favorably and then introduced the gospel worker to the villagers. Several people showed interest in the weekly Bible studies he offered, and a group was formed to meet weekly on Thursdays. There was so much interest the people themselves organized another group, praise God!

Why do Seventh-day Adventists go to church on Saturday? asked the villagers. This seemed to be different than most other Christians who worship on Sunday. But, the gospel worker explained his commitment to following God’s word rather than traditions. As they continued their studies, many people became inspired to join this end-time movement of believers.

Two evangelistic meetings were held where 41 adults and 19 children were reached. Three precious souls gave their lives to Christ in baptism, and 5 more are currently studying the Bible in preparation for baptism.

They’re so excited, they want to form a church! shared our gospel worker. He has already been mobilizing the group for quite some time, and they’ve been making their own bricks. Yes, we pray in faith God will provide, but we are also doing what we can to organize and grow. Please pray for us, shared the gospel worker. Their dream is to have a church of their own in Chisonso.

IN CHITUNGULU
Praise God! Thirty-eight souls made a decision for Christ in baptism in Chitungulu! shared the regional gospel worker. There were two evangelistic meetings with 89 adults and 45 children in attendance in Chitungulu, and besides those that were baptized, 56 other individuals are studying the Bible to prepare for baptism.

God is doing amazing things in the Chitungulu region, Shared Pastor Isaac Milioti Daka. From another series of evangelistic meetings in Mbuzi, a place in Chitungulu, there were 75 individuals studying the Bible, which resulted in 15 baptisms. But the community response has been from not only the Bible studies, but from the community service: home visitation and children’s programs. The community members are excited to learn more about Jesus Christ and join Adventism. There are prospective members are 16 kilometers (almost 10 miles) away from the mother church. They’re praying for a church to worship together in.

As the church body grows in this region, shared Pastor Isaac, the need for places of worship becomes more pressing. Currently in Mbuzi, the community has been worshiping under a shelter to serve as a kitchen for preparing meals for pupils at a nearby school. Please pray God provide for us as our groups grow in the Chitungulu region.

IN KAZEMBE
In Kazembe, there were a series of 8 evangelistic meetings. Many who attended also asked for Bible studies. Praise God for the 23 individuals who committed their lives to Jesus in baptism. Please pray for the 32 Bible study candidates preparing for baptism.

IN MAWANYA
Praise God for the 45 precious souls baptized in Mwanya! The evangelistic meetings, along with home visits, camp meeting, and a week of prayer, also resulted in 94 Bible study candidates.

In 2020, the Southern Zambia Union Conference drilled a borehole in Mawanya. This borehole is the only source of clean water in the area. The borehole is within the plot of land that the village headman gave to the group of believers on which to build a church.

Currently, there is only a temporary structure on the land, and as people come to draw water, they see the structure and ask about the people who worship there. This is another way that the project has impacted the lives of the community. A good number of people have been introduced to Jesus, and to Adventist message for the first time.

The people have also appreciated Quiet Hour Ministries’ gesture in giving the motorcycle for the gospel worker to use. Those who already got baptized now know that the SDA Church is a caring church. This is very important because people in the area evaluate churches based on how much they care about the needs of the people. They are happy that the gospel worker has transportation to visit them for Bible studies. The people in the area take a long time to change, so we are happy when they decide to be baptized.

Will you pray for 158 newly baptized believers in Zambia? Pray that God would continue to touch hearts through our outreach there.

I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. 1 Corinthians 3:6
