Jul 18, 2018 “My mission was like a daily dream!”

If you were at GYC in Pheonix last year, you may have come by our booth and seen that we were holding a contest to win a free mission trip for one person, plus a friend! We had a lot of fun hearing the reasons why all of you want to go out and do foreign missions.

And as much as we would have loved to send all of you, one winner ultimately had to be chosen. As God usually does, He led us to just the right person!

The contest winner, Shelleta Ladonice and her friend Byrna Joseph joined our mission team in La Chorrera, Panama, just a few weeks ago. Here’s what Shelleta had to say about the experience:

My experience in La Chorrera was like a daily dream. Each morning, I woke up thinking, “I’m really here.” The mission trip contest was God’s way of answering His own calling for me.

DSCN9433While I was there, it was such a blessing to be able to put my own hands to building up a church. There is no way to describe the feeling of being able to literally help build up a house of prayer. It also made me grateful because, although there were no doors or windows put in yet, no one complained.

20180622_203248At the kids’ program, the children were so excited to see felts go up during the stories and they were even more excited to do the crafts. They showed me what contentment and joy look like.

Then there was my TEAM! We quickly became a family. We worked so well together and each of them will always be a part of me.

This trip is just the beginning, and I’m looking forward to the next assignment God has for each of us!
