Apr 25, 2018 My Personal Miracle

Miracles are most meaningful to the person for whom the miracle happens. The blind man who regains sight is the most impacted by his miracle. Others may witness it, but they don’t experience his joy and relief in the same way.

That’s why, this miracle that happened to me made me so grateful.

I am not a preacher. I can speak but prefer to do so from carefully prepared notes. One night, during an evangelistic series I preached in the Philippines, a disaster occurred.

Before the meeting that night, as I tried to review my sermon notes, I kept having trouble with the app on my iPad, which I was using to preach from. The app would either freeze or not open the document. After restarting my iPad, I finally got it to open my notes. I prayed that I would have no trouble when the meeting started.

When I stepped up to the podium and opened the iPad, once again, the app was frozen, and the screen was a blank page

The app wasn’t the only thing that froze, my heart did too. Quickly, I wondered what I could doÑI didn’t have the message memorized! I knew the basic structure of the sermon but couldn’t recall all of it.

Before the evening message, I knew I needed to make a few announcements. I also wanted to do a short review of the previous nights. While making the announcements and reviewing the previous key points, I continued to try to restart my iPad, praying it would work.

By the time I got through the preliminaries, I still had no notes. I knew the first story, so I decided to dive in and pray God would either bring up the notes or give me the words. All of this was going through my head while I was up front, at the pulpit.

I started telling the first story. As the story came to an end, I began wondering what would come after the transition. At that momentÑmy notes came up!  My relief was almost overwhelming! God had answered my prayer.

When the Israelites were crossing the Jordan in Joshua chapter 3, it was not until they put their feet in the water that God made a way and parted the water. The same God that made that miracle happen for Israel, made my technology work properly! But not until I put my feet in the water.

I invite you to take a bold step of faith in your own life, whatever that may beÑput your foot in the water and see where God takes you!
