Jun 1, 2020 One-of-a-kind relationships.

God’s creation is filled with unique, one-of-a-kind people and places. Every nook and cranny of the world reflects His handiwork, from the beauty of nature to unique cultures around the world.

Last year in Thailand, the team was ministering to a population that is largely Buddhist. Most Thai are not interested in Christianity at all. They are unlikely to attend evangelism meetings or even free clinics. So, the mission team in Phuket approached their outreach with a format that was very different than in other parts of the world.

In Phuket, there is a well-respected Adventist hospital, church and school. There are very few Thai church members. Most are Filipino expatriates. Incredibly, nearly 99% of the SDA hospital employees and school students are Buddhist.

School children in Phuket gather for the children’s program.

In addition to holding a week-long evangelism series in the evening at church, as usual, this team provided opportunities for the church to connect with the hospital employees, school teachers and students who associate with the church on a regular basis but aren’t members.

The two churches in this area had never held evangelism meetings before, and the pastors were excited to see what would happen.

The team’s largest purpose was to support and encourage local congregations, provide more opportunities for Adventist connections in the community and provide some much-needed maintenance to beautify the church building.

Each morning, the team presented a short devotion about Jesus to the hospital staff before work. during the day, the Friendship Hour, QHM’s amazing children’s program was a special, daily class period for the children attending the Adventist school. Plus, the team invited community and university students to attend evangelism meetings in the evening.

What a joy it is to share Jesus in every place we are called, in ways that connect others to Him. Sometimes our job is to sow and sometimes to reap. But we rest assured that the Holy Spirit takes our efforts and creates from them something incredibly beautiful because a custom made relationship with Jesus is waiting for each and every one of us. All we have to do is open the door for Him!
