Apr 30, 2020 Shining light in the darkness

There is a fine old Finnish proverb that says: Even a small star shines in the darkness. Right now, in the darkness and fear that has gripped our world, each of us can be a small star shining for Him!

Today, we have an opportunity to support the many small stars that are shining in the darkness on this Giving Tuesday amid a pandemic.

Around the world, our international partners continue to do inspirational work in their communities even though our mission teams can’t go. And one way we continue to provide support is by providing local-language Bibles and evangelism tools. Even in the midst of crisis, our partners around the world are deeply committed to sharing Jesus and providing hope in underserved areas of the world.

Distributing local-language Bibles in the Maasailand region of Kenya.

For years, QHM has been working closely with Tombe Adventist Youth Ministry. They are working to reach the isolated Maasai people in their nomadic, village homes and invite them to meetings.

The Adventist youth feared entering the Maasai manyatta (mud huts) due to strict and longstanding customs around entering someone’s home–they weren’t sure that their efforts would be welcomed. But last August, they decided to try it anyway. To their surprise, they received a warm welcome!

They invited the people to the evangelism meetings and attendance was good. More than 1,200 people were reached for Jesus. Hundreds of local-language Bibles were distributed and 76 people were baptized, with an additional 53 continuing to study!

“Praise the Lord!” director Pastor Nyabinge writes. “The team is using the incredible gifts given by QHM donors for our evangelism program to benefit and win many souls and build churches in Maasailand.”

Local-language Bibles and Spirit of Prophecy books are distributed in Pakistan.

In Pakistan, longtime QHM partner God of Life International Ministry reaches thousands of people with the gospel message every year. Through evangelism meetings and free literature events, they distributed 1,000 copies of the Bible, “Steps to Christ,” “The Great Controversy” and “Ministry of Healing” at the end of last year. And because of the faithful support of donors, these books were provided, in the Urdu language, by Quiet Hour Ministries.

“We sincerely thank the donors for their generous support to purchase Bibles for God’s precious people in Pakistan,” shares Amjad Waryam, the director of God of Life. “My team is so grateful that the Holy Scriptures can reach many of those who have limited resources and are unable to obtain their personal Bible to read and study from. They are blessed as a result.”

Will you continue to pray for our international partners and give to support ministry? Because of your generosity and faithful support, these lights in the darkness are making a kingdom impact and many more are becoming disciples of Jesus!
