Jan 29, 2025 Small Device, BIG Impact
Thousands of miles away, in the dust-swept villages of Northern Ghana, there are three individuals’ who received a 3-inch-long plastic device and were never the same again.
Ibrahim, Kwabena, and Kwame each lived their own lives, unaware that their lives, the hearts of their families, and communities, would be forever changed.
Thanks to the Audio Bible Project, these three people played a crucial role in spreading His word.
In a small village near Kpandai, Ibrahim, a farmer with no formal education, lived a life that, on the surface, was just like any other.
One evening, a Bible worker handed Ibrahim an Audio Bible, and he began listening to its teachings with his wife and children.
On one particular night, they listened to the story of Zacchaeus, the tax collector who, after encountering Jesus, repented and changed his life.
The story of Zacchaeus really stuck with Ibrahim.
Ibrahim had always struggled deeply with his dishonest dealings at the marketplace where he worked. He knew it wasn’t right, but he didn’t know how to break free.
That night, he decided to stop his dishonest dealings. His neighbors soon noticed the change, and Ibrahim’s transformed life became a testimony to the power of God’s Word.
Because of this sudden change in him, two of his neighbors joined him and his family in listening to the Bible each evening.
Now, all five of them have been baptized into the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
In another village, another life was being transformed.
Meet, Kwabena, he had lost his sight to illness in his early twenties.
Recently, Kwabena had been feeling isolated and despair because of his disability, and on top of that, he longed to read the Bible, but his blindness made that impossible. For years, he struggled with feeling disconnected from his faith.
Then, one day, a Bible worker visited his village and introduced him to the Audio Bible. That first evening, the worker played a passage from Psalms: “I will lift up my eyes to the hills—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”
The words resonated deeply with Kwabena, and he began listening every day.
Kwabena’s life began to change. As he listened, his faith grew stronger, and his newfound peace became contagious. He started sharing the Bible with his friends and family, and his testimony of how God’s word had given him peace and strength inspired others.
Far away from the hustle of city life, Kwame had a vision. In the remote village of Bassare Akura, there was no Seventh-day Adventist Church, and in that vision, he felt called to lead others to Christ.
Every week, under the shade of a large tree, he gathered his neighbors for listening sessions using the Audio Bible he had received. People of all ages—children, parents, grandparents—came to hear the Word in their own language.
The story of David and Goliath quickly became a favorite among the children, while the adults found comfort in the Psalms. Slowly but surely, these small gatherings began to grow.
After continued Bible studies and a harvest campaign, 15 people were baptized in the last quarter of 2024, and the once barren village now had a thriving Seventh-day Adventist church.
Ibrahim, Kwabena, and Kwame—received a tool that not only brought them closer to God but also changed their lives and the lives of those around them. Through them, entire communities are discovering the transformative power of God’s Word, and the ripple effect of the Audio Bible Project continues to spread.
And it all began with a small, portable device that carried the eternal Word of God, transforming lives one story at a time.
