May 4, 2022 Strangled by a Ghost in Thailand

There’s a ghost that’s been strangling you all the time, that’s why you’ve been so sick. It will dieÑBUT only if you do not become a Christian. Alemah was shocked by what the village shaman said. How could he know I was trying to come back to God?

For all of 2021 I was sick. I had fevers on and off, body aches and unexplainable pain. I did everything I could to get well. Medicine, medicinal foods, rest and meditation. I thought that maybe I was sick because I no longer had a husband to perform the spiritual ceremonies of our Lisu ancestral religion. I felt like I was being punished since our family is the largest in the village, and my home is in the center of the Sri Dong Yen Village in Thailand. It seemed like my beliefs were failing me. I had been praying and thinking about my spiritual life, and why this was happening to me. Finally, I had decided to go the village shaman.

I can’t guarantee your life, the shaman told me, So think carefully about this warning. At that moment, the thought flashed in my mindÑWho do I trust with all my life? Do I trust God or this man? I decided then and there, I would become a Christian.

After that meeting with the shaman, I thought of the Christians I knew. I called a church pastor who had visited my house before. We started studying the Bible together, as well as the SDA beliefs. On December 24, 2021, I decided to ask God to get rid of the ghost, and I was baptized on February 27, 2022. God has healed me spiritually, and He’s healed me physically too.

Since I’ve accepted Jesus into my life, I have been free from pain! I praise God because now I always have a sense that He is with me. I am also comforted by His word. Every time I read the Bible, it’s like He has a message just for me! Thank you so much for giving me this Bible.

Praise God for this amazing testimony from sister Alemah! Pastor Tawichai Muepo has been encouraging Alemah and others in Sri Dong Yen in Northern Thailand. Pr. Tawichai has served the Lord for many years as a part-time volunteer lay pastor.

God has given me the grace and love to serve and share Him, said Pr. Tawichai. When God called me to work as a full-time gospel worker, I prayed and asked for His guidance. I really prayed that He would help me bring the gospel to the communities and find people who are open to studying the Bible. And God has been faithfully answering these prayers! Pr. Tawchai has been studying the Bible regularly with 10 people in his community, teaching them our Adventist doctrinal beliefs from God’s word.

It’s just a miracle! I give God all the glory and praise! said Pr. Tawichai, at the baptism of seven of his friends he’s been studying the Bible with. Pastor Kittikhoon Kawinyangyuen was sent to the Northern region to help with the baptisms. Now, by God’s grace, we will disciple these new believers and help them grow in the church, shared Pr. Tawichai. Pray God will shine through each of them to their families and neighbors.

Please pray for the many others who want to be baptized in Northern Thailand. Pray for the Holy Spirit to soften hearts to be open to God’s word.

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:57
