Nov 5, 2025 Taking The Word, Wherever They Go
With the scorching sun above and the bustling noise of the main road behind you, you step into a softly illuminated building, instantly feeling relief from the heat despite the lack of air conditioning.
The rhythmic hum of sewing machines fills the air while colorful threads and fabric scraps cover the floor.
You look over at the first table by the door and see Samuel sewing with great concentration, a bright blue device on an orange lanyard hanging around his neck.
But over the sound of sewing machines, you hear someone—or something—reading the Bible.
This device, the Audio Bible, given to him by QHM donors reads the book of Genesis to him in his native language while he works.
Not only is Samuel listening to the Bible, but also his coworkers.

Just a few towns over, the sun is only beginning to rise, brushing the horizon with streaks of pink and gold. You hear the roosters have already started their morning chorus, and the air carries the earthy scent of damp soil.
Mary steps out of her small clay home, a woven basket balanced on her head and an Audio Bible swinging gently from her neck. The tiny blue speaker begins to play softly — the book of Psalms, spoken in her mother tongue — as she walks the narrow dirt path toward the fields.
You hear the rhythmic voice of Scripture mingles with the sound of her footsteps and the rustle of tall grass brushing against her skirt. Occasionally, a neighbor greets her with a wave or a curious glance, hearing the faint words of the Bible drift through the morning air.
By mid-morning, the sun beats relentlessly, but Mary works steadily — her back bent low as she uses her hands to even out the harvest along the floor to dry. The Audio Bible swings from her neck as it continues to play, its steady voice rising and falling like a prayer carried on the wind.
When evening comes and her day’s work is done, Mary returns home, you’ll find her face glistening with sweat but her heart is light. She settles on her front porch, the same Audio Bible now resting beside her. As the sky fades to violet and the first stars appear, she listens — not to the noise of the day, but to the living Word that has accompanied her through it all.
With 80% of the population being Muslim, the Audio Bible’s reach extends far beyond its immediate listeners.
On the lanyard, there is a phone number that connects directly to the Evangelism Director of the North Ghana Mission, creating a bridge between those who are curious and those ready to guide them toward truth.
In the quiet hum of Samuel’s sewing machine and the steady rhythm of Mary’s footsteps through the fields, the Word of God continues to move — softly, steadily, and powerfully. What began as a small device has become a voice of hope echoing across villages, workrooms, and hearts, reminding each listener that no matter where they are, God’s message can find them and is for them.
