Apr 29, 2020 The gift of international missionary adventures

Judith Warren Hawkins, JD, is a long time Quiet Hour Ministries Mission Team member and founder of Gaza Road Ministries. She was part the March 2020 trip to Pil—n, Cuba. Here she shares here experience!

When I turned 50, I asked God for an idea for a personal offering. I wanted to to give Him my time, talents, and finances. I was amazed when He found a way to combine my love of travel with sharing the gospel! This is how I began my participation in international mission adventures.

For me, mission trips are necessary! In 2006, my first trip with QHM was to Mongolia. I presented the health talks during the evangelistic meetings.

This spring I had the opportunity to serve with QHM in Duran, Cuba, which is located in the mountains and transportation is difficult.

The host church provided transportation so people could come. From tractors pulling wagons to trucks converted into busses, people got to church however they could. One night, the government canceled transportation and only those able to walk or use horses were able to attend. But they still did!

Once again, I was able to help people with their health. I especially like that we are able to give something tangible to people. We give away reading glasses, offer blood pressure checks, and glucose readings. This is forever etched in the hearts of the Cuban people we served, as well as the hearts of us, the QHM team.

At the end of the mission, many people were baptized. What a great joy and privilege to place new, local-language Bibles in the hands of those who had none! And the best partÑsharing in the reaping of souls for the kingdom of God!

This spring, QHM has hit pause on international travel for the next few months. We are doing our part to stop the spread of corona virus. Our office staff is working from home. But we remain in touch with our international partners and the work of spreading the gospel continues!
