Sep 16, 2020 The gospel doesn’t stop – and neither do the Tombe Youth!

Just last week, a group of dedicated young Adventists in Kenya concluded a series of evangelism meetings they held in the town of Narok. At the start of 2020, Quiet Hour Ministries partnered with church leaders in Kenya to send a volunteer mission team from North America, but obviously, that couldn’t happen because of travel restrictions. Despite the change of plans, church youth in Kenya stepped up and offered to hold the meetings themselves.

QHM has worked with this group for several yearsÑthe Tombe Adventist Youth. They get things done for the kingdom! And, while they were ready and willing to share the faith and hold meetings in place of a team from North America, there was a second change of plans. Social distancing and limited gatherings in the midst of COVID-19 required them to postpone the meetings from the original May dates, one more time.

Tombe Youth work in an area of Kenya that’s heavily populated by Maasai people. They are a nomadic tribe known for their bright red clothing and hesitancy to adapt to modern life. Along with their reluctance to embrace modernityÑthey have always shown wariness to Christianity. That’s why the Tombe Youth have so lovingly worked, over years, to build relationships and show the Maasai people that Jesus loves them.

The gospel doesn’t stop, however, and neither do the Tombe Youth. When they were finally able, by law, to gather for meetings, they took health and safety precautions and moved forward. With sanitizing measures, social distancing and lots of prayers, the meetings finally got underway.

As a result of the Tombe Youth evangelism meetings, and despite a global crisis that has thwarted many plans this year, the gospel message was heard! More than 113 new believers accepted Jesus and were baptizedÑpraise God! Even by bringing the world to a grinding halt, the devil can’t halt the Holy Spirit from changing hearts.
