Apr 8, 2021 Through the Darkest Storms

I’m so happy to share some of the ways God is changing lives in areas of the world that are difficult and dangerous to reach! For the safety and protection of Maira, I’ve changed her nameÑbut this is her story:

Maira lives in a Muslim majority country. And she was losing hope. She and her five-year-old daughter lived in fear of her physically and verbally abusive husband. He was unemployed and often times would drunkenly take his frustrations out on Maira.

Sometimes, he would disappear for weeks at a time and she would not know when he would turn up again and begin the cycle all over.

One day, he injured her so badly that she could no longer work and lost her job which was a lifeline in the chaos of pandemic restrictions. She just couldn’t see the point of living, so, heartbreakingly, she began to plan a double suicide for herself and her daughter. She turned to the internet, looking for solution.

Not wanting to give in to despair, but feeling completely lost, Maira began attending the online worship meetings of our international partners in her country. She began learning about the hope of salvation in Jesus. She learned of a different love that only served and never hurt! And she began to claim the promises of the Bible, longing to trust in Jesus.

Maira also built relationships with her new friends who were teaching her about Christ. She received prayer and emotional support, they provided food packages and helped her financially. She even got a new job and a restraining order against her abusive husband.

Today, Maira continues to lean on Jesus for strength and courage. And she wants others to know how her life was changed and how, despite fear and danger, God can always bring healing!
