Nicoya Peninsula, Costa Rica
Overview
QHM is invited to partner with Wings of Life in the Nicoya Peninsula. This trip is supporting a long-term project growing relationships and improving health in several communities. Our team will work with the local church members in holding evening meetings, children's outreach, clinics, construction, and visiting people in their homes.
The Nicoya Peninsula is off-the-beaten-path with stunning natural landscapes rugged mountains, and a laid-back lifestyle. The area offers a variety of ecosystems with opportunities to view nature. You might see monkeys, coatis, sloths, parrots, and countless other birds and animals.
Sharing Jesus with people living in an isolated paradise is one of those unique experiences you will remember for a lifetime.
The Community
Partnering with Wings of Life, a member of Outpost Centers International, this team will serve at three remote sites.
Check back here two months prior to the trip for more information and pictures of the communities where we will be serving.
Additional Information
Edward Marton
Edward is the Quiet Hour Ministries President/CEO and an experienced mission team leader. He and his wife, Mariya, have a son studying at Southern University, a daughter who is a senior in high school, and a little dog who spends most of his time napping.
Speaker
Each speaker will:
- Present the My Friend Jesus messages at their assigned meeting site on the trip.
- Show one segment of the Jesus Film at the beginning of each night as an introduction to Jesus.
- Be responsible for bringing the presentation kit provided by QHM.
Children’s Program Leader and Helpers
The Friendship Hour leader is in charge of coordinating and leading the children's program with the help of supporting team members. QHM provides a suitcase with a Bible story felt set, Friendship Hour handbook, and a craft package for each of the 10 meetings.
The children's ministry assistant provides support and help to the leader.
- Song service, games, and additional activities are at the leader’s discretion. The evangelistic meetings may run longer than the children's program, so prepare to keep the kids actively engaged in learning about Jesus and have age-appropriate games or activities in mind. Uncle Arthur-type stories are sure to please young inquisitive minds.
Clinic Team Members
The clinic team members help as assigned at the health clinic and present health talks before each evening meeting. At times, they are also asked to bring a piece of luggage from QHM containing: glucose meters, stethoscopes, eye testers, eye charts, and reading glasses.
Construction Project Team Members
The construction team members put in physical labor to help complete building projects. Talk with our staff about bringing construction basics: hammer, screwdriver, pliers, wrench, tape measure, work gloves, work shoes, or additional supplies. Areas may be rugged, so closed-toe athletic shoes will work best to protect against rocks and uneven footing.
Take time as a group to relax, recharge, and experience the local culture.
