Jan 17, 2024 Vision from the Heart

“It’s you! My heart told me someone was coming to tell me about God!” exclaimed the blind Maasai elder. With his exclamations of joy, the whole village was alerted of the visitors.

In the face of a rapidly changing world with rapidly changing trends, culture, and technology, the Maasai people have preserved their traditions and lifestyles. They still herd cattle, live in traditional huts, and hunt with only their spears, knives, and skill. But while culture is one challenge in sharing the gospel, another challenge is geography.

For the Maasai and those living in the Great Rift Valley, Kenya, the great distances between villages and unmaintained dirt roads are difficult. Having evening meetings is out of the question, as it’s unsafe to walk long distances in the dark while dangerous animals roam about. But, because of generous donor support, QHM gospel workers can travel further and reach more villages for Christ.

And that’s how our gospel workers met Lemashon as they traveled to the villages of Olposmoru and Orderkesi—with incredible results!

When QHM gospel workers first met Lemashon, he was sitting under a tree. He asked about us, and we told him we were visiting people and telling them about God. “It’s you!” he exclaimed. “My heart has been telling me somebody was coming this year to tell me about God.” Lemashons’ exclamations alerted the whole village and inspired many to listen to what the QHM gospel workers had to say.

As they shared, Lemashon eagerly accepted the gospel message as from God! For a blind Maasai elder who had never been to church in his entire life, this was a miracle! Today, he is happy in the Lord. Praise God for blessing Lemashon with spiritual sight!

From the visitations, 54 precious souls were baptized—including the elderly, blind Maasai man, Lemashon! Praise God!
