Jul 17, 2024 “Wherever I Go, I’m Now Going to Share the Word of God”

“Adventism has been introduced to the village of Kogni for the first time because of Quiet Hour Ministries,” explains Pastor Peter. “So praise God for their support and resources because, without it, we might not even consider bringing the ministry to this challenging field any time soon.” Meimba Peter is a pastor in Ghana, and was the speaker for the evening meetings at the Kogni site.

During QHM’s mission trip in Tamale, Ghana, we had five evangelism sites: Jisonayili, Lamashegu, Jakarayili, Kogni, and Nyankpala.

The team prayed and prepared, but our expectations were no match for what God had planned for this mission field. The local pastors and members kept reminding the QHM team that this particular mission field was tough. With a predominantly Muslim influence we were reminded to keep our expectations low. So, we kept praying…

“Day after day, we would have more than 100 people listening to the Word of the Lord, when we thought there’d be maybe 30 or 50,” said Pastor Peter. “And because of that, we never expected so many people to accept the faith here in Kogni. Out of the 24 people getting baptized, all but one were Muslims,” said Pastor Peter.

One of those getting baptized was the interpreter for Pastor Peter, assemblyman Uriah.

“As the assemblyman, he is the mouthpiece between the community and that of the government of Ghana,” Pastor Peter explained. “He was from another Christian denomination, but through working as an interpreter for the evangelism meetings, he learned about the Sabbath. One day he said he couldn’t take it any longer—he had to come into the Seventh-Day Adventist Church! Praise God!”

“I learned a lot through this program from the beginning to the end,” assemblyman Uriah said. Even though I interpreted God’s message to the people—I was the one who was most blessed. Now that I’ve received a God Pod (audio Bible with multiple dialects), wherever I go, I’m going to share the Word of God with people. Because I need to share with others about Christ and the Sabbath. I will share it wherever to whoever is interested in hearing the Word of God.”

“This evangelistic series is so historic,” said Pastor Peter excitedly. “We ourselves, the local church leaders, never expected results like this, but it’s really happened. There are some places in this region where we have to do programs like this twice, if not more, before we can even get one or two people ready for baptism. But this one, on the first try, we got 24!” Pastor Peter was especially encouraged to see his interpreter, Uriah, accept the Adventist message. An added blessing is that Uriah, as the assemblyman, has respect and influence in the community which will open more hearts to hear the message of Jesus.

Throughout this mission trip, we’ve witnessed God’s plans far exceeding our greatest expectations. We’re excited to see the gospel continue to spread like wildfire, not only in the village of Kogni, but also, by God’s grace, through assemblyman Uriah, across the entire country of Ghana.

“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” Ephesians 3:20-21
